What is a patient certification?

A medical provider can issue a patient "certification" (not a prescription) if approved to do so by the Department of Health. The certification confirms that an individual has one or more of the many serious medical conditions defined in Pennsylvania's Medical Marijuana Act, and that they may benefit from medical marijuana. Individuals cannot participate in the program without a patient certification.
