I read about United States Estate Tax. Do I need to be concerned about my estate?
United States Estate Tax currently applies to the estates of individuals with a gross estate in excess of $11.7 million. If your estate is less than this amount, it is unlikely that it will be subject to United States Estate Tax. If you are married, both you and your spouse have an $11.7 million exemption ($23.4 million combined), which can be transferred to the surviving spouse. This amount is indexed for inflation.
