Does my insurance cover a claim, and when do I need to put my insurance carrier on notice of a claim or potential claim?

Although all policies have specific provisions defining the scope of coverage and notice requirements, it is best to err on the side of caution and let the insurance company evaluate whether there is coverage and whether any further action is required at that time. While coverage may not be guaranteed, what is certain is that a failure to timely notify your insurance company of a claim will jeopardize any coverage that you may have had.
