Do I have to file anything annually to maintain tax-exempt status?
Almost all nonprofit corporations that are recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS are required to file IRS Form 990 annually. Form 990 must be filed with the IRS on the 15th day of the 5th month after the close of the nonprofit corporation’s fiscal year. In Pennsylvania, nonprofits must renew the Charitable Solicitation Registration Statement annually with the Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations if engaging in fundraising.
