Bio

An Erie native, Craig is the chair of the Business Transactions Group, and a member of the Trusts & Estate and Tax Practice groups. He focuses on keeping complex matters intelligible for clients, taking time to understand their goals and objectives, and to explain the issues and the process before them, without overwhelming them with information. Craig is responsive, provides honest advice, and is proud of the high-quality work and service he delivers. His ultimate goal is to get his clients where they want to be as efficiently as possible.

Craig focuses on the full-spectrum of trusts and estates for individuals, tax compliance, wills and will contests, guardianships, estate administration, and M&A transactions. His practice consists of assisting individuals from all walks of life with preparing both simple and sophisticated wills and trusts, along with powers of attorney and advanced health care directives.

Craig helps his clients minimize the estate or inheritance tax burdens of the transfer of assets between generations. He has experience drafting trusts that do not affect Pennsylvania Medicaid eligibility and that protect assets from Pennsylvania Medicaid recovery. After a client's death, Craig assists the executor or trustee with completing the necessary administration to effectuate his client's goals.

At times, Craig has represented beneficiaries of estates and trusts who believe the fiduciary is not acting in the best interest of the beneficiaries. He is often able to negotiate an amicable settlement prior to litigation, but he also has experience in litigating these matters on behalf of his client.

In addition to his estate and trust practice, Craig serves a wide variety of business clients, both for-profit and non-profit. He has extensive experience in business formation, corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, executive compensation, equity financing, tax and succession planning. He has assisted numerous non-profit organizations in obtaining recognition of tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.
